Game 4 between the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder Sunday afternoon ended in pretty ugly fashion. An otherwise drama-filled playoff game concluded with both teams making dumb mistakes as the Rockets took a 3-1 series lead over their conference rivals.

As the fourth quarter continued to play out, it became apparent that Houston was intent on intentionally fouling Thunder wing Andre Roberson. Forced to keep his defensive stopper in the game, all Oklahoma City head coach Billy Donovan could do was watch as Roberson pretty much threw away an opportunity at a series tie by failing over and over again at the free-throw line.

Roberson headed into Game 4 having missed on all five of his free-throw attempts in the series. He responded Sunday by hitting on just 2-of-12 from the charity stripe, at which point Rockets players were seen on the bench laughing hysterically at his failures.

There’s certainly a few different ways to take this. Sure the Rockets could have been more professional here. That’s definitely not a great look. Though, Roberson himself is an NBA basketball player. One would think that he’d find a way to improve on something as simple as free throws.

Unfortunately, this situation marred what has been an otherwise solid series for the veteran. Should Oklahoma City fall short, maybe Roberson will take to spending his summer actually working to improve in this aspect of his game.

Meanwhile, maybe Mike D’Antoni should teach his Rockets players what professionalism looks like.
