Von Miller: 2017 ‘gonna be my best year’

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

It is hard to imagine Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller having a better year than his 2015 Super Bowl MVP season.

But Miller predicts his 2017 year will be his most successful to date.

“I feel like this Von coming up is going to be my best Von that I put forward. It’s gonna be my best year, that’s what I’m going for,” Miller said per Marc Sessler of NFL.com. “I have a full offseason, full OTAs, I’m gonna be here every single day training. It’s not all luck. … Now it’s just all football. I’m here, I’m settled in. It’s time to go play.”

In 2016, Miller lost out to Oakland Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack for Defensive Player of the Year by one vote, per Sessler.

Miller is taking on the 2017 preseason with full gusto it would appear. His defense finished fourth overall in 2016. The five-time Pro Bowler concluded last season with 13.5 sacks, which was the second-best in the league. He also added a career-best 62 solo tackles.

Unfortunately, Miller’s Broncos fell short of making it to the postseason for the first time since 2011.

We shall see how the team does now that the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs have turned up the heat in the AFC West. Likely, Miller and his defensive teammates are doing to need some better play from their offense, which could potentially see a change at quarterback before the summer is out.
