UCLA QB Josh Rosen back at practice after shoulder injury derailed 2016 campaign

Josh Rosen

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen had an injury scare last year, but the junior gunslinger was back at practice Tuesday, which is a very positive development.

Rosen missed the final six games of UCLA’s season last year after a nerve issue in his throwing shoulder required surgery. It was no small matter, but he was expected to make a full recovery. Apparently that has come to fruition, which is a huge boon to the Bruins on a team-wide level and for the quarterback on a personal level.

A player that NFL scouts are reportedly enamored with, Rosen could very well be the No. 1 overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft if he has a big season at UCLA.

He started in every single Bruins game as a true freshman during the 2015 season and six games last year before his injury took him out of the lineup. In that time, Rosen has displayed a knack for hanging tough in the pocket and delivering strikes to his receivers downfield.

In 19 starts, he has completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 5,584 yards with 33 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Not a polished product, by any measure, but Rosen has a chance to develop into a special player, both this year for the Bruins and at the next level.
