Lance Stephenson on return to Pacers: ‘Like Michael Jordan coming back’

Lance Stephenson

Did you hear that Lance Stephenson is coming back to play in the NBA? He returned to the Indiana Pacers on a three-year deal and is set to see his first action next Tuesday. And apparently, it’s going to be epic.

“It’s gonna probably be like Michael Jordan coming back to play in the NBA or something like that,” said Stephenson. “Or somebody coming out of retirement. I know the atmosphere is going to be crazy.”

Originally a second-round pick by Indiana back in 2010, Stephenson has long been known as a strong utility player. He’s also been known for what he says perhaps even more than for what he can do on the court. This latest set of comments certainly reminds us why.

Since leaving Indiana after the 2013-14 season, Stephenson has bounced around the NBA, playing for five teams.

Hopefully he can settle back in like he never left and help the Pacers make it into the postseason. They currently are tied with the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls for the final two spots in the Eastern Conference, though if the season ended today they’d be the odd team out.
