Report: Scott Kazmir to start the season on the DL

Scott Kazmir

Well, we saw this coming. According to Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times, Dodgers starter Scott Kazmir will begin the season on the disabled list.

The three-time All-Star has been experiencing some hip tightness throughout the spring, which could be the reason he’s been missing some velocity.

McCullough reported earlier Kazmir was throwing his fastball that sat between 82-84 mph. This guy was once throwing a 91-plus fastball, and it seems the velocity just continued to drop as time went on.

He also underwent an MRI that came back negative, but the discomfort is obviously still there.

Kazmir finished his 2016 campaign posting a 4.56 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in over 136 innings.
