Report: Jamaal Charles to visit Seahawks on Wednesday, Thursday

Jamaal Charles

Former Kansas City Chiefs star running back Jamaal Charles is on Adrian Peterson’s heels to visit the Seattle Seahawks, according to a report.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Charles will be visiting the Seahawks on Wednesday and Thursday of this week to discuss a possible free agency deal.

Free agent and former Minnesota Vikings star Peterson was reportedly in Seattle on Sunday to make his case.

Clearly, the Seahawks are looking for an upgrade at the position. It stands to reason the Seahawks will bring in others, including Eddie Lacy, who’s been rumored to be on their radar.

It’s been tough sledding since Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch hung up his cleats pads and helmet for good.

Last year Christine Michael led the team in rushing with 469 yards. Thomas Rawls did show up huge in the wild card round, going off for 161 yards against the Detroit Lions. He’s terrific when he’s healthy. Unfortunately, he just can’t seem to stay on the field.

Both Peterson and Charles would, on paper, seem to be great fits for the Seahawks, who love to run the ball. However, neither player has been healthy of late.

Charles, in particular, has had a rough go of it since his ACL injury in 2015. Last year he managed to appear in just three games before being placed on IR again with knee problems and another surgery.

When healthy, the running back is nearly peerless in his ability to gain huge chunks of yardage on any given play. Throughout his career he’s averaged 5.5 yards per carry and 8.6 yards per reception.

No doubt, the Seahawks would soar on offense if Charles can get back to that level of play.
