While the NFL world is busy scouting draft prospects in Indianapolis this week, much of the talk has surrounded Kirk Cousins and Tony Romo. There’s also been a bunch of rumors swirling about that the San Francisco 49ers could look to the trade market for a quarterback.
Already linked to Cousins, it was reported earlier on Friday that the 49ers could be a potential landing spot for Romo (more on that here).
So why not include all these variables in one trade, right?
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, discussions between the Washington Redskins and 49ers regarding Cousins might now end up including the Dallas Cowboys and Tony Romo as well.

It’s not a surprise that San Francisco would show interest in both Cousins and Romo. It is, however, a surprise that Dallas might act as a third partner with the division-rival Redskins to help them land Romo.
Trade discussions of this magnitude would likely include Cousins heading to San Francisco with Romo making his way to Washington. From there, the 49ers would have to send draft pick compensation back to both the Redskins and Cowboys.

Cousins himself had the exclusive-rights franchise tag placed on him earlier in the week. Meanwhile, Romo, set to count nearly $25 million against the cap in 2017, has long been on the trade block.
It might be a long shot, but this is one trade scenario that could shake up the entire dynamic of the NFC as free agency gets going next week.
