Report: Patriots have not discussed signing Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson

Running back Adrian Peterson is reportedly interested in both the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders. Additionally, a report suggested that Peterson could be willing to accept less pay to play for the New England Patriots.

While talk appears to be free-flowing from Peterson’s camp, a source close to the Patriots reports that the team has not discussed Peterson, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

The Patriots could potentially work out another deal with free agent running back LeGarrette Blount. Blount performed quite well last season and rushed for a league-high 18 touchdowns. He recently expressed his interest in remaining with New England.

Peterson was slated to earn a hefty $18 million in 2017 with the Minnesota Vikings. It was an absurd enough of a chunk of change that the Vikings opted not to pick up his final contract year.

What Peterson has in mind for a salary with a new team in 2017 will be found out soon enough. It is possible some teams with plenty of cap space might offer Peterson a deal he couldn’t turn down, though at this point everything surrounding the veteran running back appears to have originated from his camp.

When it comes to the Patriots however, they are typically quite frugal in free agency. We will keep an eye out to see if anything further surfaces between the two parties.
