Bernie Kosar mocks Dwight Clark’s ALS diagnosis

When former San Francisco 49ers legend Dwight Clark announced this past weekend that he had been diagnosed with ALS, it was an absolute shock to the football world.

Clark, just 60 years old, was an important part of the 49ers’ dynasty of the 1980s. His catch against the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Championship Game back in 1981 is still one of the greatest moments in franchise history.

Upon announcing the crippling disease he’s now tasked with fighting, Clark received a ton of support from the larger NFL community. It was a sign that those who had played with him and currently play in the league stand with him as a brother (more on that here).

Unfortunately, the always enigmatic Bernie Kosar decided to go in the opposite direction recently. The former Cleveland Browns quarterback appeared on a local radio station in Cleveland on Wednesday and mocked Clark’s ALS diagnosis.

This is about as offensive of a comment that we can imagine. Clark is dealing with a life-altering situation, one that will eventually lead to his death. Kosar, who has made some outlandish comments in the past, took time to mock Clark and his disease.

It’s absolutely sickening.
