Vlade Divac: ‘We’re not trading DeMarcus’ Cousins

Sick and tired of the constant trade rumors surrounding DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento Kings general manager Vlade Divac put them to bed once and for all.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, Divac recently met with Cousins and his representatives to “assure them” he’s not going anywhere as the February 23 trade deadline nears.

Divac not only assured them he’s not trying to move Cousins but is also hoping to engineer a monster contract extension that will keep the big man in Sacramento for a long time, per Stein.

This is unquestionably the right move for the Kings. As volatile as the All-Star center can be sometimes, he’s still the best big man in the business — just ask LeBron James.  Averaging 28.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 1.4 steals and 4.7 assists per game, he pretty much does it all for the Kings and is still growing as a player.

Furthermore, the Kings aren’t so far out of it in the west that they need to blow it all up, just three games behind the Denver Nuggets (No. 8 in the conference) in the loss column.

Cousins is a legitimate superstar and a player that the Kings need to build around, not try to replace. It’s good that Divac is nipping all this trade talk in the bud, because the Kings need to focus solely on the game, rather than all the chatter that comes around this time of year.
