Report: Giants releasing RB Rashad Jennings

New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings

The New York Giants are in cost-cutting mode today. Just minutes after news broke that Victor Cruz was being released, we’re now being informed the Giants will release starting running back Rashad Jennings.

Neither move is all that surprising. Cruz ended up being overshadowed by other receivers not named Odell Beckham Jr. this past year. Jennings (31 years old) averaged a measly 3.3 yards per carry, rushing for just 593 yards and three touchdowns playing in 13 games this past season.

New York can surely find another running back to match or better those numbers at a lower cost and with more upside for the future.

Between the two moves, the Giants have now cleared $10 million in cap space, which will help them continue to build a team capable of becoming a force in the NFC once again.
