Report: DeMarcus Ware could return to the Dallas Cowboys in 2017

DeMarcus Ware

After winning a Super Bowl during his three-year tenure with the Denver Broncos, DeMarcus Ware is reportedly open to returning to the team that drafted him.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ware is open to returning to the Dallas Cowboys next season, though he is still interested in staying in Denver as well.

This isn’t particularly surprising, especially given the fact that Denver isn’t exactly ascending right now in the wake of Peyton Manning’s retirement and the development of two young passers who may or may not pan out.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are most certainly a team on the rise, and they need help on defense, especially at defensive end.

Ware, even at the age of 34, is still capable of wreaking havoc off the edge, especially as a situational pass rusher. He battled through injuries this past season but still managed to total four sacks in eight games and 11.5 in his last 21.

Throughout his career, Ware has racked up 138.5 sacks and was once among the most feared quarterback hunters in the league. Though he’s not as dominant as he was in his younger years, he’d be a terrific addition for the Cowboys, if he ends up heading back to Texas.
