Richard Sherman: It would be ‘out of the norm’ for NFL to punish Seahawks

Richard Sherman

The Seattle Seahawks are being investigated for allegedly not disclosing a knee injury cornerback Richard Sherman suffered during the season. Reportedly, the Seahawks could lose a second-round draft pick for keeping the injury hidden (more on that here.)

Head coach Pete Carroll described it as a “legit” MCL injury, earlier in January, per NFL.com. Although, Sherman has since downplayed the injury and doesn’t believe the team should be punished. He also called out other NFL players who played through their injuries.

“It wasn’t that serious, so there’s nothing to address,” Sherman said, per Conor Orr of NFL.com. “There wasn’t anything to address.”

“Le’Veon said he’s got a groin (issue) for weeks, they’re going to get a warning,” Sherman said. “Andrew (Luck) played with cracked ribs for a whole year (back in 2015). You see what I’m saying? It would be odd, out of the norm.”

Per the report, Sherman thinks the NFL should just give the Seahawks a warning. We will have to see how the league’s investigation plays out and if they will really rescind a second-round pick.

In the meantime, Sherman appears to be healthy enough to participate in the upcoming Pro Bowl that takes place this Sunday. Clearly by the looks of this practice video, his knee doesn’t look to be a concern.
