When Karl Joseph was in eighth grade, he promised his mother that one day, he’d buy her the house of her dreams. The Oakland Raiders safety is not a liar.
He officially followed through on that promise.
Joseph made good use of his first NFL contract. Rather than treating himself to anything lavish, fulfilling the promise to his mother was the top priority.
“He comes from very humble beginnings,” Joseph’s agent, Chafie Fields said, per TMZ Sports. “Ultimately, his goal was being able to provide for his mom. He didn’t want to buy himself a car. Didn’t want to buy himself a house. He wanted to get his mom a house.”
It’s been a good few days for Joseph. While it probably doesn’t top buying his mother such a nice house, he was voted to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team on Tuesday.
He certainly has a lot to be proud of.
