Vikings RB Adrian Peterson won’t commit to playing this week

Adrian Peterson

The Minnesota Vikings are battling for their playoff lives. They need to win out and have a whole bunch else happen in order to sniff the postseason. This is what pretty much led to Adrian Peterson deciding to give it a go last week after missing the previous 11 games with a torn meniscus.

Though, Peterson himself proved to be completely ineffective in the 38-6 blowout loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He tallied just 22 yards on six rushes while losing a fumble.

Now heading into the team’s all-important Week 16 contest with the Green Bay Packers, Peterson has not yet committed to playing on Saturday.

This might catch a lot of people by surprise, but the fact of the situation is that Peterson is nowhere near 100 percent healthy. He’s not practicing in the lead up to the game. And one has to wonder whether Peterson’s presence might hurt the Vikings more than it helps them.

Peterson would not have returned to the lineup if the Vikings were no longer in playoff contention. And as their postseason hopes fade, it’s looking more and more like that should have been the case all along.
