Report: Orioles pull offer to Mark Trumbo

Mark Trumbo

The Baltimore Orioles are reportedly looking into alternatives outside of re-signing power hitter Mark Trumbo. According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, Baltimore has pulled its initial four-year offer to Trumbo.

Instead, the team is looking into the potential of adding Chris Carter, who was recently non-tendered by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Trumbo is coming off a tremendous 2016 campaign that saw him hit .246 with 47 homers and 108 RBI. Though, he has to be considered nothing more than a one-dimensional player at this point in his career. Trumbo, 30, struck out 170 times while posting a substandard .316 on-base percentage and playing horrendous defense in right field.

If the Orioles are indeed looking at Carter as a cheaper alternative, they can expect the same one-dimensional type player. Carter did hit 41 homers last season, but he also struck out an absurd 206 times.
