Report: Jason Pierre-Paul visiting surgeon to discuss groin injury

New York Giants pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul is at least contemplating surgery, as he’s reportedly visiting surgeon William Meyers to discuss his groin injury.

Pierre-Paul exited Sunday’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second quarter and never returned after injuring his groin. He was already dealing with a knee injury heading into the game.

New York expressed optimism that the pass rusher would be okay after the game. However, after an MRI Monday he’s headed out of town to explore his options. That’s not necessarily a positive development. That said, this doesn’t means surgery is a given.

Pierre-Paul has racked up 54 tackles, seven sacks and a defensive touchdown (against the Browns) this year for New York. His resurgence has been a big reason Big Blue’s defense has taken off of late, along with the improved play of Olivier Vernon.

With a record of 8-4 and the current No. 5 seed in the NFC, New York will certainly miss JPP if he does have to miss time with this injury.
