Jerry Jones leaves open possibility of quarterback change

Tony Romo has no plans to file his retirement paperwork

The Dallas Cowboys lost their second game of the season Sunday night against the New York Giants. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott is 11-2 as a starter this season. He’s also compiled 25 total touchdowns compared to four interceptions on the season.

Apparently, none of this is enough to quiet the possibility of a quarterback controversy taking hold in Dallas.

While Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has made it clear Prescott is the guy to lead this team down the stretch, owner Jerry Jones simply won’t close the door on the idea of Tony Romo taking over under center.

Granted, this is all coming off a Week 14 performance that saw Prescott throw two interceptions en route to leading the Cowboys to a 10-7 loss to the Giants. Still, it seems a bit ridiculous that the team would even entertain this idea.

This seems to suggest that there’s a scenario in play that could include Romo taking over under center should Prescott continue to struggle. How that would look is anyone’s guess.

Not only is Dallas 11-2 on the season, it has the inside position for home-field advantage in the playoffs. It would be utterly foolish for the team to pull the plug on a quarterback that’s gotten them this far.
