Aaron Rodgers’ prediction that Packers would ‘run the table’ has almost come true

The Green Bay Packers started a bit slow out of the gate this season. In particular, they hit a very rough patch when the team lost four games in a row starting in Week 8.

After the Packers fell to Washington and lost by and astounding 18 points in Week 11. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers stepped up, called out his team and said the Packers would “run the table.”

And, run the table they did. The team has been on fire ever since, winning their last five in a row and scoring an average of 30.8 points per game.

Rodgers has once again weighed in on his team’s accomplishments since it snapped out of that mid-season funk.

“I think things kind of came together for us,” Rodgers said this week, per Brian Jones of CBS Sports. “Jared [Cook] had a breakout game coming back from an injury and played really well. And then the next week Davante [Adams] really had a big game for us. We got Jordy [Nelson] going as well during this stretch. We’d love to get Randall [Cobb] back this week to get everybody back.”

Notably, the Packers kicked their offense into overdrive without their starting running back Eddie Lacy. Lacy wound up on IR after undergoing ankle surgery in October.

Rodgers stepped up big here and picked up the slack on the ground despite not exactly having head coach, Mike McCarthy’s blessing. Fortunately, Ty Montgomery also contributed and lined up at running back in several plays.

The bottom line is the Packers got their act together when it counted most. Last on the list of tasks is a meeting against the Detroit Lions. This game will determine whether the Packers or Lions win the NFC North title. The playoffs are also at stake in this NFL 2016 season finale, which takes place on Sunday Night Football.

A complete run of the table will be officially be accomplished if Rodgers’ Packers can win on the road at Ford Field against their NFC North rival.
