Report: Mike Conley out indefinitely after suffering back injury

Memphis Grizzlies guard Mike Conley will be out an indefinite amount of time after suffering a transverse process fracture in his vertabrae, per Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

NFL fans will likely recognize this injury. It’s the same one that took Tony Romo off the field for the Dallas Cowboys back in 2014. For those uninitiated with the injury, we refer you to this helpful page. It’s a painful injury that causes inflammation but isn’t one that will threaten Conley’s career.

Before getting injured, the point guard was having a phenomenal season for Memphis, averaging 19.7 points, 5.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. The Grizzlies are going to have to adjust their strategy significantly without Conley running the offense.
