Colts QB Andrew Luck in concussion protocol, not expected to start Thursday

Andrew Luck

This pretty much comes out of left field. The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly placed quarterback Andrew Luck in the concussion procotal and are not expecting for him to be cleared in time to start Thursday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Luck played the duration of the Colts’ win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, completing 15-of-28 passes for 262 yards with two touchdowns in the process. It’s not yet known when Luck may have suffered the concussion, but this is most definitely bad news for Indianapolis.

At 5-5 on the season, the Colts currently find themselves one game behind the Houston Texans in the win column in the AFC South. They are also two games back of the final wild card spot in the AFC.

If Luck is unable to go Thanksgiving night, journeyman backup Scott Tolzien will get the start.

An undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin back in 2011, Tolzien has started a grand total of two games in the NFL. That came with the Green Bay Packers back in 2013 with him throwing one touchdown compared to five interceptions.
