The measure to get the San Diego a new stadium failed and failed in a rather big way (read more about that here). What that will ultimately mean for the future of the San Diego Chargers is anyone’s guess, but it certainly decreases their chances of staying in San Diego.
On Wednesday, team president and CEO Dean Spanos released a statement, via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. In it, Spanos made it clear that the future of the team will not be decided during the 2016 season.

But please know that I don’t intend to make any decisions until after the regular season ends and that, in the meantime, I hope to enjoy with you one great Chargers game after another.
This is certainly the right move. Even if Spanos knows what the team is going to do, there’s no need to say it now. In reality, Spanos and all involved should take some time to try to figure this out. Making big decisions the day after a tough defeat isn’t a good idea.
The mood of San Diego and the Chargers fans will be shown in the team’s four remaining home games. One of those comes in Week 10, when San Diego hosts the Miami Dolphins.
