Report: Cowboys targeting Week 8 return for Tony Romo

Tony Romo has no plans to file his retirement paperwork

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly targeting a Week 8 return for quarterback Tony Romo, which comes right after the team’s bye week, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

This fits the original timeline that has been in place ever since the Cowboys admitted Romo’s injury was actually serious.

The quarterback has already been throwing the ball, and owner Jerry Jones recently said Romo would be of the “acute risk area very soon.”

Dallas has done well without its starting quarterback so far this year, going 2-1 with rookie Dak Prescott running the offense. However, there is no doubt the passing game will benefit from Romo’s ability to distribute. To this point, the Cowboys have scored just one touchdown through the air.

If Romo does return in Week 8, he will face the Philadelphia Eagles at home.
