Jets announce Eric Decker underwent hip surgery

Eric Decker

In an odd twist, New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker, who was placed on injured reserve for a torn rotator cuff on October 12, underwent hip surgery Tuesday, per the team website.

Decker, who must still undergo surgery for his torn rotator cuff, had undergone an evaluation by team doctors upon being placed on IR. It was at that time doctors discovered Decker was in need of hip surgery.

With a six-month recovery timetable for the hip surgery, Decker’s shoulder surgery has been pushed back until he is off crutches, at which point he will undergo surgery for the torn rotator cuff and begin an eight-month rehab process.

With the surprising news of his completed hip surgery, it is feared that Decker may not be healthy in time for Jets minicamp next summer.

This could easily be a storyline to keep an eye on as the draft draws near.
