Doug Martin and Charles Sims both out for Buccaneers Monday night

Doug Martin

The pass-happy Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense might very well find a way to rely even more on Jameis Winston Monday night against the Carolina Panthers.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, both Doug Martin and Charles Sims will miss Monday’s NFC South matchup between two struggling teams.

This is some absolutely damning news for the Buccaneers.

Martin has missed the past two games after suffering a hamstring injury in a Week 2 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Meanwhile, Sims suffered a knee injury last week against the Denver Broncos and was never really expected to go in this one.

The two running backs played a huge role in Tampa Bay’s offense last season, combining for over 2,700 total yards. Now that the Bucs’ top two running backs are out, the team will have to rely on Jacquizz Rodgers to start against the Panthers.

All this does is put more pressure on the throwing arm of Jameis Winston, who has tossed eight interceptions in four games thus far this season.
