Sixers rookie Ben Simmons has fracture in foot

Ben Simmons

Philadelphia 76ers rookie forward Ben Simmons has a fracture in his right foot.

Bob Cooney of the Daily News reported the injury first, and shortly afterwards the team announced it as “a fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone of his right foot.”

This is definitely some dark news just days into the team’s training camp.

Simmons was selected No. 1 overall this year and came into the Association as one of the most hyped players since LeBron James.

The rookie entered camp with some significant weight and strength gains after bulking up to the tune of 33 pounds this summer, working out with James and Dwyane Wade.

Coming out of LSU, Simmons had averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists last year.

After successful surgery to repair the broken bone, Simmons’ agent reportedly made it known that he doesn’t want his client to play at all for the 76ers this year.
