Seahawks ‘confident’ Russell Wilson will play Sunday

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell WIlson

Following a less-than-stellar season-opening performance, the Seattle Seahawks seemed to be facing the real possibility of having to move forward without Russell Wilson.

The fifth-year quarterback suffered a sprained ankle in the team’s narrow win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Early indications were that he might miss some time.

While Wilson’s status does remain up in the air for Sunday’s road outing against the Los Angeles Rams, there’s confidence within Seattle’s brass that he will be able to go.

One might wonder whether Seattle would be better off sitting Wilson for a game it should win going away.

Los Angeles put up a stinker of a performance in a 28-0 blowout loss to a mediocre San Francisco 49ers team. It’s in this that it might make sense to rest Wilson against a far inferior opponent.

In any event, it sure looks like Wilson will continue his streak of suiting up on Sundays. The Super Bowl winning quarterback has yet to miss a start in four-plus seasons in the NFL.

That likely won’t change in Pete Carroll’s homecoming Sunday in Los Angeles.
