The Milwaukee Bucks are already behind the proverbial eight-ball and training camp hasn’t even started.

According to Shams Charania of Yahoo’s The Vertical, up-and-coming wing Khris Middleton has suffered a torn hamstring and will undergo surgery.

Middleton, 25, put up a career-best season in 2015-16, averaging 18.2 points while shooting 40 percent from three-point range.

The 6-foot-8 guard/forward combo had just signed a five-year, $70 million extension last July and was being relied on to be one of Milwaukee’s young building blocks this season.

Middleton’s status for the 2016-17 campaign is now in serious question. Depending on the extent of the tear and his own ability to rehab, he could find a way back on the court this season. Though, Milwaukee shouldn’t hold its breath here.
