Multiple Seattle Seahawks players could sit out the national anthem

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane has followed in line with Colin Kaepernick of the rival San Francisco 49ers.

He sat down for the national anthem last week and plans on continuing the protest into the regular season.

It’s now looking likely that certain members of the Seahawks will join Lane in his protest moving forward, primarily wide receiver Doug Baldwin and linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Both players have hinted that they are mulling over the idea.

“I have (considered it),” Baldwin said before Seattle’s practice Wednesday afternoon, per Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. “I want to make sure I get all of my ducks in a row before I do so.’’

Wagner added this.

“Anything we want to do, it’s not going to be individual. It’s going to be a team thing. That’s what the world needs to see. The world needs to see people coming together versus being individuals.”

This obviously leaves a lot to speculation. Is there going to be a united front from the Seahawks prior to their Week 1 game? If so, how will the NFL world respond to this?

The topic of sitting out of the national anthem appears to be one that will be ongoing for the foreseeable future as people exercise their right to freedom of expression.

The Seahawks host the Miami Dolphins Sunday afternoon. It will be interesting to see how this turns out prior to the game.
