Rookie CB Jalen Ramsey dares Aaron Rodgers to throw his way

In order to be a dominant cornerback in the NFL, confidence bordering on peacock levels of vanity is a requisite quality. Clearly, Jacksonville Jaguars rookie cornerback Jalen Ramsey has it.

The Jags will be hosting the Green Bay Packers Sunday at EverBank Field. As you’re likely aware, Green Bay features one of the NFL’s great quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers, who is also a competitor of the highest order.

With that in mind, it might not have been Ramsey’s brightest idea to dare Rodgers to throw his way during the game.

“I’m not scared,” Ramsey said, via Mike DiRocco of ESPN. “Throw my way if you want to.”

Perhaps Ramsey’s first NFL lesson will be: Don’t give the opponent bulletin-board material.

Ramsey shouldn’t be scared. He should feel confident. He was drafted No. 5 in 2016 for good reason. He’s a darn good prospect who many feel can significantly impact Jacksonville’s perennial dumpster-fire secondary in a positive way.

He also has the right attitude.

“I’ve been preparing like I would prepare for anyone else,” Ramsey said. “We’ll see on Sunday. Like I said, they’re a really good team. We know that. Everybody knows that so hopefully it’ll be a good game and we can go out there and do well.”

Ramsey said he’d love to pick Rodgers off on Sunday but insists that isn’t his focus right now.

“It’d mean a lot to me,” he said. “It’ll be my first NFL interception but that’s not really what I’m focused on right now. I’m just focused on doing what I can do for the team.”
