Victor Cruz sits out practice with groin injury

Will New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz ever catch a break?

It was just reported by Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York that Cruz was sidelined during Tuesday’s practice with a tight groin. Head coach Ben McAdoo later indicated that it’s “too early” to determine if Cruz will be able to play later this week.

The Giants kick off the preseason with a home game against the Miami Dolphins on Friday.

Cruz has been attempting a come back since he sustained a torn patellar tendon in Week 6 of the 2014 NFL season.

Due to various lingering ailments that hampered Cruz last year, he was not able to suit up at all during the 2015 campaign.

Things had been looking up for Cruz until this report. Hopefully the groin issue won’t be too serious. Though, it would not be surprising to see the Giants take extra precaution and ease Cruz back into the lineup as they see fit.

Cruz turns 30 this November and has not played an entire 16-game season since 2012.
