Shoulder injury kept Teddy Bridgewater from preseason game

Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater mysteriously sat out Thursday’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.

After the game, head coach Mike Zimmer told reporters that he simply wanted to sit Bridgewater for the otherwise meaningless preseason game (via the Star Tribune).

Now the real reason as to why Bridgewater donned a ball cap on the sidelines has been revealed. Bridgewater reportedly has a sore shoulder, according to Ben Goessling of ESPN.

Per the report, Bridgewater would have likely played if it had been a regular season game. However, it makes sense that Zimmer would not want to risk aggravating his sore shoulder.

Why Zimmer did not fess up to that originally is not known. Shaun Hill started in Bridgewater’s place, completing 10-of-17 passes for 129 yards en route to an 18-11 win over Seattle.

Bridgewater’s shoulder situation is surely one the Vikings will monitor heading into their third preseason game.
