Colin Kaepernick: ‘I’ll continue to sit’ during anthem

Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick isn’t backing down after news broke that he has been sitting during the national anthem the past few weeks.

In fact, if anything he’s doubling down.

He spoke at length with Bay Area media on Sunday and explained his stance.

Not surprisingly, there has been a significant amount of backlash, including some of his own peers, such as Justin Pugh and Victor Cruz of the New York Giants.

But rather than back down, Kaepernick is making it clear he will continue to sit during the anthem.

Kaepernick was one of the players who spoke today during a team meeting. He expressed his perspective on the matter and appears to have changed the mind of at least one of his teammates, who was previously offended by his decision to sit during the anthem.

Team captain NaVorro Bowman made it clear that the locker room supports Kaepernick as well.

So while the rest of America is up in arms over Kaepernick’s protest, it appears the 49ers are standing with him, arm-in-arm, supporting his decision.

Football is family.
