Police: Green incident just ‘an altercation between two guys’

Draymond Green

Draymond Green was arrested on Sunday and charged with assault. However, as details have emerged it sure appears as if the incident will end up being much ado about nothing.

Taking it a step further, it appears that in the end the Golden State Warriors forward could be vindicated as the victim in the situation, not the aggressor.

Based on a report by ESPN, it seems clear that there is no reason for Warriors fans to panic.

“It was basically an altercation between two guys,” police said. “There’s no injuries. He was released with a $200 bond on Sunday.”

The Warriors are aware of the situation and, as is typical in cases like this, have declined further comment, per the report.

One person who claims to have been at the restaurant where Green and the other man had the altercation says that they have video of the incident and that Green was actually “provoked and bullied” by the other man.

Based on the police comment and these claims, it appears Green won’t likely be facing any kind of legal or criminal trouble when things are sorted out.

He is scheduled to appear in court on July 20, per ESPN’s report. If he’s found guilty of assaulting the man, Green could face “a maximum of 93 days in jail and a $500 fine,” per the report.

This appears to be nothing close to a serious offense, even if Green did lash out at the other man.
