Cavaliers follow Dwyane Wade, wife Gabrielle Union on Twitter

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James

Maybe it’s just coincidence. Maybe not. But the Cleveland Cavaliers Twitter account started following Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union today.

Why would this possibly be newsworthy, you might ask?

Quite simply, the Cavaliers would love to lure Wade to Cleveland to help LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and Co. win a second-straight NBA title.

Wade is reportedly disgruntled with Pat Riley and the Miami Heat. He’s also being pursued by the Denver Nuggets and Chicago Bulls, per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. All three teams can give Wade more money than what the Cavs can offer, which isn’t much — just a $3.4 million mid-level exception.

Windhorst is also reporting that Wade is seeking upwards of $50 million for two years, with the second year being a player option.

So it seems like Wade to the Cavs is a huge long shot. Not only that, but would he really make them that much better? Wade did have a resurgent season, but he isn’t getting any younger and would have a hard time keeping up with the fast-pace offenses in the west in the Finals, should the Cavs make it back.

Probably this is much ado about nothing. But then again, the Cavaliers are sending a not-so-subtle message to the Wade family that indicates they are more than welcome to come aboard.
