David Johnson slated to start at RB for the Cardinals

Despite the return of running back Chris Johnson, the Arizona Cardinals continue to make it clear that second-year back David Johnson will assume the lead ball-carrying duties.

“I don’t know how anyone would suggest otherwise at this point,” said Darren Urban, via the team’s official website. “David Johnson the guy this organization absolutely loves.”

Per the report, Chris Johnson will “get the carries David Johnson doesn’t get.” Furthermore, fourth-year running back Andre Ellington will likely be used more as a receiver on the outside.

This news is obviously excellent for anybody wondering who to target in fantasy football.

With the Cardinals making this clear-cut announcement prior to training camp, we can assess that the team is “all in” regarding the second-year back.

Johnson stunned when he assumed the lead role last season after the Cardinals lost Chris Johnson to injury. He finished 2015 with 1,038 total yards and a dozen scores.
