Steve Kerr goes off on officials following Game 6 loss

Steve Kerr

If we thought the Golden State Warriors were going to take Thursday night’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers sitting down, we were surely mistaken.

After MVP Stephen Curry got himself ejected from the game following an incident that saw him throw his mouthpiece, hitting a fan in the process, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr absolutely laid into the officiating.

“You know, he’s (Curry) the MVP of the league. He gets six fouls called on him, three of them were absolutely ridiculous,” Kerr said. “He steals the ball from Kyrie (Irving) clean at one point. LeBron (James) flops on the last one. Jason Phillips (official) falls for that — for a flop. He’s the MVP of the league. We’re talking about these touch fouls in the NBA Finals. Let me be clear, we did not lose because of the officiating.”

While Warriors fans will assuredly want to blame the officiating for the loss, that simply wasn’t the case.

Though, the officiating itself was an absolute joke throughout the game. As you can see in the video embedded above, the foul calls on Curry were atrocious.

In the end, Cleveland won by double-digits to force a Game 7 in Oakland on Sunday night. The drama and intrigue from Thursday promises to spill over into that affair. There’s little doubt about this.
