Giants DC mistakes rookie Sterling Shepard for Odell Beckham Jr.

Do the New York Giants have another Odell Beckham Jr. on their hands?

This could be the case considering defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo had to do a double-take after watching tape and mistaking rookie Sterling Shepard for OBJ.

Oops. Forget Spagnuolo’s lapse of eyesight and take in what a good thing this, even if Beckham is two inches taller than Shepard.

If the Giants indeed have another wide receiver who compares favorably to Beckham, their offense could be nearly unstoppable this fall (more on that here).

The Giants spent a second-round pick on Shepard after he recorded 86 receptions for 1,288 yards and 11 touchdowns for Oklahoma last season. During his three years at college, Shepard received several awards for ranking within the top 10 in receptions, yards and touchdowns.

Victor Cruz’s health and ability to return at full speed remains a little sketchy, so he might just be finding himself the odd man out this season while OBJ and Sterling light it up.

Fantasy football players, take note.
