Trevor Story makes history with homers in first three games

What a story this is turning out to be. Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story just made baseball history by nailing a home run in the third consecutive game to start his career. He’s the first player in the long and heralded history of the game to accomplish this feat.

Wednesday’s home run came off Arizona Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin and represented his fourth in just three games to start the season.

A first-round pick of the Rockies back in 2011, Story was the organization’s 11th-best prospect following a 2015 season that saw him hit 20 homers and drive in 80 runs between Double-A New Britain and Triple-A Albuquerque.

The interesting dynamic here is that Story has yet to play a game at the high altitude destination that is Coors Field. All four of these homers have come in the desert.

While we are definitely going to want a larger sample size here, it’s safe to assume he’s not going to be regressing in that hitter-friendly park anytime soon.

Pardon the ridiculous use of puns here, but this is definitely going to be a story to watch at Mile High over the course of the season.
