Trent Baalke giving Anthony Davis ‘a headache’

San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Anthony Davis isn’t happy with general manager Trent Baalke right now, or so it appears.

After sitting out the entire 2015 NFL season to get himself right — both in mind and in body — Davis has been making noise on social media about playing again in 2016 for months now.

At the end of February it was reported that he would be applying for reinstatement by the NFL so he could make good on his promise to fans that he’d be back this year.

However, it’s been a month since that report and still Davis has yet to apply. Perhaps now we know why.

The “Trent” in this message is none other than the team’s G.M.

And, if anyone is wondering if this is perhaps an April Fools joke, consider this, from Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, who had written about Davis earlier in the day:

“If Davis were determined to make a comeback, he would be expected to attend the voluntary program to work his way into shape and start to learn Kelly’s new up-tempo offensive system.”

San Francisco opens its offseason schedule next Monday, meaning Davis really isn’t going to be there, considering he legitimately has not yet applied to be reinstated.

It really does seem like there might be some lingering issues stemming from how Davis left the team so abruptly last season as the team was about to get its summer training camp kicked into high gear.

Whatever the issues facing Davis, he seems legitimately frustrated with the organization. Otherwise, he’d already be reinstated and getting ready to report to team headquarters in Santa Clara next Monday, rather than tweeting out his discontent.
