Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis continues to take steps towards Las Vegas as a potential landing spot for his NFL franchise.

According to Richard N. Valotta of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Davis is set to speak in front of a Nevada state committee on April 28 to discuss moving the Raiders to the popular tourist destination.

“Davis will appear before the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee on April 28, a source confirmed Tuesday on condition of anonymity,” writes Valotta.

Las Vegas has been mentioned as a possible landing spot for the Raiders ever since the franchise missed out on the Los Angeles stadium. The NFL has not ruled out the city, but there could be some split perceptions between NFL owners on the issue.

Las Vegas Sands Corporation is already looking into building an expensive domed stadium that could potentially house the Raiders, and Davis has already visited UNLV to see if Sam Boyd Stadium could work on an interim basis.

The CEO of The Sands, Sheldon Adelson, has already been in touch with UNLV and is reportedly considering a partnership with the school to build the new domed stadium, which the Raiders could then also use for their home games.

As crazy as it is to think that an NFL team could possibly play in a city known more for its gambling on sports than actual sports, this idea seems to be gaining steam.

When you consider that things are continuing to go downhill for Davis and the Raiders in Oakland as it pertains to the stadium situation, it’s not surprising that the owner is doing everything he can to look for alternative solutions to his problem.
