Josh Gordon’s agent pushing for investigation of leaks

Josh Gordon

The matter of Josh Gordon’s reported failed drug test is not settled yet. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that Gordon’s Agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is now exploring the possibility of investigating the leaks, claiming Gordon’s sample should never have been public.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Gordon’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is pursuing with the NFL Players Association a potential investigation.

On Monday, someone leaked to multiple outlets that Gordon tested positive last month. Specifically, Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reported that Gordon’s sample (in both the “A” bottle and “B” bottle) were determined to be dilute and “positive for marijuana.”

Florio would later clarify that what Gordon tested for wasn’t actually enough to be qualified as a “positive” test and therefore, should never have become public knowledge.

“But the samples weren’t “positive for marijuana.” The amount of marijuana in the samples was below the 35 ng/ml minimum, making them necessarily negative for marijuana. This distinction makes the confidentiality breach more troubling; no one ever should have known that marijuana was found in Gordon’s sample, given that it was below the 35 ng/ml limit.”

Given his history, it might be hard to feel too bad for Gordon at this point, but his history shouldn’t really matter here. If the claims are true, then Gordon and Rosenhaus have a point.

Gordon’s past with substance abuse should not impact what results of his should and should not be made public. If he tested within the legal limit, then that should have been the end of it. The fact that it wasn’t is troubling and something that if true, should be investigated.

At any rate, between this and the news that Gordon is living with Johnny Manziel, it’s safe to say that Gordon’s reinstatement bid will be a consistent story throughout the offseason.
