Brandon Marshall suggests holding a fundraiser to keep Ryan Fitzpatrick with the Jets

Brandon Marshall couldn't stop laughing after seeing Jay Cutler in his birthday suit

New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall posted a career-high 14 touchdowns and 1,502 receiving yards in 2015. These numbers came with Ryan Fitzpatrick tossing him the rock.

So, why wouldn’t Marshall want to do what it takes to keep Fitzpatrick in town?

When Marshall was asked how the Jets could swing keeping Fitzpatrick as part of the team, he suggested holding a fundraiser (via TMZ Sports).

Fitzpatrick remains a free agent and it doesn’t appear the Jets are willing to raise their ante to meet the quarterback’s asking price.

Fitzpatrick had the best year of his career last season when working with both Marshall and Eric Decker. He put up 3,905 yards, 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions en route to leading the Jets to a 10-6 record.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t reflect the previous 10 seasons of his career — a span that included stints with five different teams.

Marshall’s idea is obviously unrealistic, but we can tell his heart is genuine. Beyond Fitzpatrick, awaits the unappealing option of Geno Smith.

Unless the Jets trade up from No. 20 in the NFL draft, they’ll likely be looking at a quarterback beyond the top-three prospects at that position in this year’s draft.

We’ll see what unfolds for Marshall and his Jets in the days approaching next week’s draft.
