Justin Houston has knee surgery, expected to be out 6-12 months

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without Pro Bowl pass rusher Justin Houston at least through training camp after the team announced Tuesday morning that he underwent surgery to “fix” his ACL last month:

Houston, 27, missed five games with a knee injury last season. As Ian Rapoport reported, Houston’s ACL wasn’t torn. Instead, the knee wasn’t working “properly” following the aforementioned injury he suffered last year.

Houston, a four-time Pro Bowl performer, has recorded a total of 50 sacks over the past four seasons, earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 2014.

This comes less than a year after Houston and the Chiefs agreed to a six-year, $101 million extension last summer.

The expectation here has to be that Houston will start training camp on the physically unable to perform list. Though, based on the timeline for similar surgeries, he could miss a lot more time.
