Report: Rockets shopping Dwight Howard

Just to make things interesting as the NBA’s trade deadline approaches, the Houston Rockets are reportedly reaching out to teams about potentially trading center Dwight Howard.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical has the report, citing league sources:

“The Rockets are working with Howard’s agent, Dan Fegan, on possible destinations, league executives told The Vertical.”

Howard is expected to utilize his opt-out clause after the 2015-16 season if not traded, per The Vertical, which means now is the time for Houston to get something in return for the big man.

Though not as dominant as he once was, Howard is still a formidable force. The eight-time All-Star is averaging 14.6 points, 12.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game playing 32.3 minutes per game.

It’s interesting to note Howard is expected to seek another max value contract next season, per The Vertical. He’s clearly on the downside of his career with his best days in the rear-view mirror, and injuries have been an issue for him in his latter years.
