Watch: Texans Use J.J. Watt as wildcat QB

The Houston Texans are pulling out all of the stops against the Kansas City Chiefs. We’ve seen J.J. Watt line up as a receiving tight end or extra blocker on the goal line before, but we’ve never seen him as a quarterback.

Well, we’ve never seen him as a quarterback until now.

Not only was Watt the quarterback, but one of his lead blockers was none other than Vince Wilfork.

At the time of the play, this looked like a stupid decision from Bill O’Brien and the Texans. Obviously, Watt didn’t come anywhere near the end zone, perhaps because Watt and Wilfork were out of their natural element.

In all seriousness, running a play like that exposes one of the game’s best players to injuries while doing something that he’s not used to doing.

On the other hand, Brian Hoyer, the Texans actual quarterback, threw an interception on the next play, his second of now three interceptions, and third of now four turnovers, completely dooming a scoring opportunity.

In hindsight, maybe a wildcat play with J.J. Watt wasn’t the worst idea.
