USC Football HC Steve Sarkisian gets drunk, behaves badly, then apologizes

Drinking on the job is never advisable, but somebody forgot to tell USC’s head coach Steve Sarkisian.

During a USC donor event on Saturday night, Sarkisian reportedly had a few too many and made some inappropriate comments that included some salty language (h/t lostlettermen.com).

Not surprisingly, the head coach was quick to apologize on Sunday morning.

I sincerely apologize to my players and staff and to our fans for my behavior and my inappropriate language at our kickoff event Saturday night,” Sarkisian said (h/t USCTrojans.com).  I have a responsibility to all of them and I let them down.  Pat Haden talked to me after the event about my actions and I assured him this will not happen again.”

Athletic director Pat Haden also made a statement regarding the incident that clearly indicates he wasn’t happy at all with the coach.

“I met with Coach Sarkisian and I expressed my disappointment in the way he represented himself and the University at our Salute To Troy event.  While the details of our conversation will remain between us, I am confident he heard my message loud and clear.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Sarkisian has made inappropriate comments as a head coach. While at the University of Washington he bashed the program at Cal in reference to recruiting, saying, “They haven’t been to the Rose Bowl in a hundred and eighty-eight years.”

More recently, Sarkisian slammed Oregon’s propensity for utilizing multiple uniforms every season.

Clearly, the head coach has some issues with saying things out loud that should remain inside his head. And, it seems he also might want to lay off the hooch for a while at any public events.
