Videos and assault. Two words that fans around the National Football League would be happy with never hearing in a sentence together ever again.
Unfortunately, a report by the New Orleans Times-Picayune indicates that the following video depicts New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Galette assaulting a woman with a belt:
The video, titled “Spring Break 2013 South Beach Brawl,” shows the fracas. Reportedly, Galette is one of the individuals that took part in the fight.
“An NFL source told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune on Saturday that the league is aware of the video and Galette’s involvement in the fracas. The Saints are aware of the situation. The NFL had no comment on the video. Galette’s agent Alvin Keels did not respond to requests for comment.”
Galette was already under investigation by the National Football League for allegedly violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
If you check out the video, a person reported to be Galette, wearing a white shirt and shorts, is seen striking an unknown woman at about the 14-second mark. The linebacker is later seen in the video throwing punches at other people involved in the fight.
Galette had previously been arrested on charges of simple battery involving domestic violence back in January. Charges were eventually dropped. That will have no impact on any punishment the league throws his way.
