The Miami Dolphins have reportedly won the Ndamukong Suh sweepstakes, signing the All-Pro defensive tackle to a massive $114 million deal that could potentially keep him in town through the 2020 season, according to Chris Mortensen.

Suh was the biggest name on the free-agent market this offseason, and landing in Miami is big news for the Dolphins. The 28-year-old former No. 2 overall pick led all defensive tackles with 36 sacks in five seasons with the Detroit Lions. He finished last season eighth among all defensive linemen in total positive plays, which is the number of quarterback pressures plus stops in the run game (via Pro Football Focus, subscription required).

Total DLine PP 2014Suh was the only defensive tackle in the top 10. He adds a ferocious interior pass rush as well as the ability to stop the run—not to mention the mean streak he’s known, and sometimes hated, for.

The Dolphins really beefed up their defensive front seven with this signing. If Mortensen’s report is true, the team automatically becomes a serious contender for the AFC East title with the New England Patriots.
