Report: Browns will Try to Trade for Sam Bradford

To say that the Cleveland Browns quarterback situation has been a hot mess in recent years would be a major understatement. A year after selecting Johnny Manziel in the first round of the NFL draft, the team is apparently looking to find another viable quarterback option.

Only this time, it’s likely coming via the veteran market.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, Cleveland will try to trade for current St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford.

The two names that they (the Browns) are looking at here in this process are: Sam Bradford—whether they trade for him or he gets cut—that’s the guy at the top of their list

Cole goes on to mention Josh McCown, who was just recently cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as a possibility.

The potential of this actually happening is real. It was recently reported that the Rams have given Bradford permission to seek a trade—a report that head coach Jeff Fisher has since questioned.

Due to count $16.6 million against the cap in 2015, there has been speculation that St. Louis would require Bradford to restructure his contract in order to remain with the team. However, conflicting reports suggest that the team is committed to him in 2015.

Yeah, it’s definitely the silly time of the year around the National Football League.

As it relates to the Browns, they really are attempting to hit that mediocre quarterback bin hard this offseason. Left without many options on the open market, the idea of actually giving up a draft pick for a quarterback with two torn ACL’s in as many years seems to be a bit of a joke.

At the very least, Cleveland is being proactive here.
